May Reflection

I can’t believe it’s already halfway into the year and even though I’ve done a lot, it feels like I haven’t done anything. May was truly hectic and probably a bit more so than how it was pre-covid.

Anyways, Tesla got new wheels but I’m just waiting for lowering springs to show up. Unfortunately the vendor lags and I’m not even sure when I’ll see it. Doesn’t matter much though since last night, a truck in front of me kicked up a piece of debris from a crashed car and scratched the shit out of my front bumper and broke my fog light. Thanks Cal Trans.

The NSX ownership so far has been pretty enjoyable to be honest. There were frustrating times like fixing all the shitty work the previous owner (not Jose) had done or had a shop do. It’s absolutely amazing when you see an audio shop do some of the most junk ass installs with random holes drilled all over the place, wiring being ran blindly and wirings fraying and almost shorting. Really good audio shops are rare but it’s these type of work that gives good audio shops a bad rep. The car also had some weird hesitation around 3k-3.4k RPM so I decided to look at the coil packs. Luckily the coil packs looked pretty new and the resistance test came back within range. The spark plugs though were pretty much junk and for reasons unknown and beyond my comprehension, were fouled and two steps colder than stock. One of the reasons for the fouled plug is because of the Comptech supercharger running a FMU and running rich. This alone is kinda pushing me towards the newer Science of Speed supercharger kit and properly setup the fuel, electronic and tuning. In the end though, you just upgrade what you can and enjoy the process of slowly putting the car together since covid slowed down part procurement anyways.

Either way, lately, I did a few mods to the NSX to clean up the interior and shit. First thing that had to go was the stereo system like I said before. I asked Yuta @ Exceed to help me fix everything and the solution to my two speaker sound system was the Alpine PWD-X5 and Alpine Type R speakers with tweeters. The PWD-X5 acts like a sub, amp and bluetooth receiver so this means I can finally run the dashless interior panel with no head unit. After that, I focused on putting some RSGS into the car, replace the Personal wheel with Nardi and put in the AP1 Cluster. For the RSGS, I was very particular about it and purposely picked black. The reason is that even though RS-GK has nicer material, RSGE allows you to run the Velcro pillows, RSGS has a white logo stitched on to the front and the back. RS-GK is a gunmetal stitching and RSGE doesn't have anything on the rear. If I'm flossing down the freeway, you best believe I want my Recaro logo to show through my two rear glass. AP1 cluster is one of those mods I never thought I'd do but here we are. I know it's a popular mod for EK and RSX guys but aesthetically, I believe the AP1 cluster looks better inside the NSX than even the AP1. I think there's this 90s simplicity (that's because it was designed in the 90s unlike AP2) that doesn't quite match the AP1 styling but more so the NSX styling. Yeah, I like the cluster more than I thought I would like but that's pretty much how my NSX has been. I've been doing things a little outside what I usually do and really enjoying some mods that I used to not like before; ap1 cluster, pedals, sound system, RSGS.
