Body Work Time and Parts Update

Image
I was digging thru my garage the other day and found my old Mugen collapsible box that I used frequently for my Civic Type R. I decided yeah, it's a good time to buy an all white Nismo box from Evasive so I don't have loose shit all over the car. Helps tidy up the interior and keep shit from flying all over.  Also decided, it was a good time to start getting the car ready for some body work. Since the OEM hood and side skirts are a different color, I decided to just get those painted first before the bumper. The aftermarket Z-Tuned style hood isn't bad looking by any means but the fake overexaggerated N1 hood lip was just too ugly. I also couldn't decide on how I'd redo the hood pin so until I figure it out, I'll just run OEM. Looks pretty good without a hood Parts Update! On order: Nismo Front Lip Nismo Front Bumper Nismo Sideskirts Nismo Rear LCA Nismo Rear Traction Arms Nismo Steering Rack Bushings Nismo Engine Mount and Trans Mount SPL Rear Camber SPL Front ...

Motec!

Went to Garage Bomber Aki's place last Sunday to drop off some parts for the R32 and bring back some parts for my R33. Since the R32 is getting maxed out on channels, I'm at a cross road on either upgrading the ECU to M150 or go with something else. I'm probably going with M150 but it would be pretty cool to check out other options like Syvecs. In the mean time, I dropped off Boost Doc's AN heater core fitting so this way I can run XRP HS79 for the coolant lines. This lets me delete all the unnecessary coolant lines under the Hypertune intake manifold since it'll be DBW setup. I also picked up my M130 with the Powertune RB package. Hopefully I won't have any compatibility issues plugging it into the R33 but seeing how everyone advertises the 32, 33 and 34 as one, I hope it'll be ok.  I also had a chance to chat with Stewart Leask from Leaskspec about the catch can/coolant overflow combo. I requested that instead of AN, we can use some of my spare -12 wiggin...

R33 Update

Image
So I’ve been driving the R33 almost everyday for the past few weeks now. Even though I joke the R32 is essentially an AWD S13, the R33 is very unique compared to a S-Chassis. There’s definitely something that drives the car apart and essentially feels like the different driving experience between E46 M3 and base E46. Regardless, the car has exceeded my expectation and I don’t see myself selling it compared to my previous cars. Hopefully in the coming month, I'll be able to move my Motec M130 over, get a tune, fix my alignment with my new arms before digging deeper into other things like cleaning up the aesthetics of the engine bay and fixing all the small shit. We also installed Ohlins this past Wednesday in the parking lot which was relatively uneventful for how dumb that sounded. I was hoping there would be more of a story but literally we pulled the table out and swapped out the Aragosta for Ohlins. The Aragosta aren’t bad but I feel they need a rebuild and don’t dampen as well ...

Intro

We're near the end of 2020 and I figured I start blogging. Now that I'm getting older, I feel my memory is starting to haze and what felt like yesterday was a long time ago. I'm also starting to forget short term memories since life seems to be moving faster than my mind can remember. Though IG is great for posting photos, it leaves very little space to write out what's on the mind. Unlike IG, I feel blog will have more sustenance behind the photos that are posted. This blog will essentially be about cars and sometimes life but I rather keep it automotive and friend related.
